Transport for New South Wales (NSW) has advised motorists and heavy vehicle operators that traffic conditions will change at Maitland Road at Hexham due to works.

With the Hexham Straight widening project soon to be underway, overnight works will continue from January 28 to 30.

On January 28, a ‘blackout’ for oversize overmass (OSOM) freight needing to contraflow over the northbound bridge of the Pacific Highway will be followed by temporary changes for cyclists on bridges on Wednesday January 29.

On both January 29 and 30, a temporary closure of the southbound steel bridge at Hexham will see contraflow placed on the northbound bridge at Hexham.

Motorists wishing to use the New England Highway or M1 Motorway will detour via the Hexham Station u-turn bay.

On these days, OSOM operations with a ground contact wider than 3.2m or with an overall width wider than 4.5m will have to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 515 141.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
