Transport and logistics software company swoops on Transit Computer Systems to increase benefits for trucking operators
January 28, 2010
Well known transport and logistics technology provider TransLogix has swooped on Transit Computer Systems as part of plans to improve services to the trucking industry.
TransLogix has more than 350 customers in Australia and New Zealand and is known for its modules covering accounting, transport and warehouse management, fatigue management, tracking and scheduling.
The family-owned Transit has produced routing and scheduling technology since 1972 and boasts major customers such as Woolworths, Nestle and Toll.
“TransLogix and Transit have worked together in the past and I have been looking to bring together our complementary offerings for some time,” TransLogix Managing Director Anselm Waterfield says.
“The combined forces of Translogix and Transit’s proven capabilities create a significant player in the Australian logistics marketplace and bring the benefits of much needed scale and competitive pricing.”
Transit Managing Director Nicola Williams says the partnership is a boon for customers because they will benefit from an integrated product range and expanded research and development capability.
“They will also have access to greater face-to-face contact through the local TransLogix presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland,” Williams says.
Williams will become the new general manager of the Transit division once the acquisition is complete, while Transit staff have been told they will retain their current roles.
