The Victorian government’s road blitz funding is continuing, with three more projects added to the state’s $1.2 billion road upgrade program.
The new projects focus on Melbourne’s outer suburbs to cut congestion and improve safety in fast growing regions.
The three projects, which will share in $38.5 million in funding, include $25 million to plan and develop the Five-Ways intersection at Warrandyte South, $10 million to upgrade Wantirna South’s High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection and $3.5 million to upgrade the Maroondah Highway and Yarra Road intersection at Croydon North.

The Warrandyte South intersection is set to boost safety for the 8,000 vehicles that use it every day, while congestion will be eased in Croydon North and Wantirna South through those two projects.
“We’re giving Victorians the infrastructure they deserve after being short-changed by the former Coalition government,” federal transport minister Catherine King says.
“We’re fixing roads right across the state; we’ve doubled our road maintenance funding to local councils, reinstated road maintenance indexation that was scrapped under the former government, and are investing heavily in our regions and cities.
“We’re fixing these notorious choke points and planning future road improvements to cater for our growing suburbs.”
Victorian transport minister Gabrielle Williams says the government is getting on with delivering vital upgrades to wider Melbourne roads.
“As Melbourne’s population continues to grow, we are investing in critical projects that will create better journeys for motorists,” she says.
