Victoria Police issue first ever heavy vehicle surrender notice

Police

A heavy vehicle driver driving without a licence has had his vehicle surrendered to Victoria Police after it was intercepted in Hallam on Thursday.

Great Dandenong Highway Patrol detected the vehicle, which was doing a delivery run, on the Princes Highway at approximately 2pm. The 33-year-old driver from Berwick had previously had his licence suspended due to a drink driving offence.

The driver was issued a notice to surrender the truck for a period of 30 days at a cost of $675. He will also be charged on summons for driving while suspended and breaching alcohol interlock condition.

Victoria Police says it will continue to target drivers of heavy vehicles who do not have valid licences.
