Volvo acquires Truck Centre WA

Volvo Group Australia has announced the complete acquisition of the WA-based business that was founded by the father of Volvo in Australia

Volvo Group Australia has today announced it has acquired Truck Centre Western Australia as part of a “key investment move”.

From July 1, Truck Centre WA will become a business entity under the Volvo Group Australia banner, with the acquisition including all eight existing branches and service centres throughout the state.

Truck Centre WA was founded by Max Winkless, known as the ‘father of Volvo’ in Australia after he brought the first Volvo trucks into the country in 1965 and established Volvo as a local entity.

Truck Centre WA has since operated from its Forrestfield headquarters in Perth’s industrial south east, with branches since being established across regional WA from Albany in the south to Port Hedland in the Pilbara.

Volvo Group Australia president and CEO Martin Merrick says Truck Centre WA’s identity will remain intact while the workforce of more than 300 people will transition with the ownership of the. Business.

“Western Australia is a key market for Volvo Group Australia and the team at Truck Centre Western Australia have done a fantastic job at building our brands across the region.
