VTA awards industry legend with WFD Chalmers Award

The popular industry name and FBT Transwest managing director has taken home the prestigious award for a second time

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has proudly announced the latest winner of its latest accolade, the WFD Chalmers Award, with one of the transport industry’s most respected contributors taking home the award.

Cameron Dunn was presented the award at the annual VTA President’s Dinner held earlier this week at Melbourne’s iconic Hotel Windsor.

“I am pleased to announce that the VTA has recognised one of our association’s and the transport industry’s greatest contributors with the VTA’s highest accolade,” VTA CEO Peter Anderson says.

“Cameron Dunn, a long-time member of the VTA Executive Council and former president and vice-president, is a very worthy recipient of the WFD Chalmers Award. His decades of dedication, loyalty and commitment to the VTA and our industry have been exceptional.”

Cameron Dunn, who is currently the Managing Director of FBT Transwest, has held various roles in freight and logistics throughout his career. He was presented with the award by VTA President Mike Lean, who succeeded Cameron as president in 2019.

The award, which is generously sponsored by CMV Truck & Bus, honours individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the association and the broader transport industry. Cameron Dunn’s nearly 40 years of distinguished service, including more than 12 years on the VTA Executive Committee, has earned him this significant recognition.

“The WFD Chalmers Award was established in memory of Daryl Chalmers, a member of the VTA Executive Council for over 40 years. While we regret that Daryl’s son Gary Chalmers was unable to attend the dinner, the association continues to recognise and appreciate the support of the Chalmers family over several decades,” Anderson says.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Cameron for his many years of service to the VTA and the industry, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved honour.”
