VTA confirms opening speakers for upcoming conference

The NHVR CEO and a Victorian minister are among the speakers named for the opening session of this year’s VTA conference

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has confirmed its opening session main speakers ahead of its 2026 state conference in March.

National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) CEO Nicole Rosie leads the program for the opening session, with the conference theme being ‘Freight never stops: Scene setters’.

Rosie will join VTA CEO Peter Anderson on the stage, with Victorian ports and freight minister Melissa Horne also part of the speakers. Rounding out the opening speakers are Freight Cyber managing director Reeanjou Ram and JANA general manager client relationships Duncan Smith.

Anderson says the session is designed to set the tone for two days of critical discussion and forward‑looking industry dialogue.

“Freight never stops — and neither can our industry’s focus on safety, productivity and resilience,” he says.

“Bringing these respected leaders together provides delegates with essential insights into the forces reshaping freight and logistics, from regulation and infrastructure to cybersecurity, economic conditions and workforce pressures.”

Anderson says the diversity of speakers reflects the interconnected challenges facing freight operators.

“Each of our opening speakers brings a vital perspective — whether it’s government policy, digital risk, economic outlook or regulatory reform,” he says.

“Their combined expertise will help delegates start the conference with a clear understanding of the challenges ahead and the opportunities emerging for operators who adapt and innovate.”

The session will cover key issues including decarbonisation, compliance reform, economic volatility, cyber‑preparedness, infrastructure capacity and the growing demands placed on freight networks.

The 2026 VTA State Conference will take place March 22–24 at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island.
