As part of the Western Australian 2025-26 state budget, the state government has confirmed it’ll spend $17.4 million on building a new truck driver training centre.
The facility will be built in Neerabup, north of Perth, with WA Premier Roger Cook and skills and TAFE minister Amber-Jade Sanderson making the budget announcement.
The dedicated training facility will be TAFE-run and will have the capacity to train 170 students per year.
It was first announced in February this year, with the budget confirming that $17.4 million will go into the project.

From 2026, the site will include heavy rigid trucks and trailers, forklift trucks and a high-tech heavy vehicle driving simulator, as well as wide roads, for practical training.
Western Roads Federation CEO Cam Dumesny has welcomed the new funding that builds on the state government’s support for the industry through its successful Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations training program.
“The investment is a recognition of the importance of the road transport industry to the state and the on-going success of the training program,” he says.
