Construction work has got underway on straightening and duplicating another section of the Bruce Highway as part of the Cooroy to Curra upgrade.
Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister says the $790 million upgrade of the highway from south of the Cooroy southern interchange to Sankeys Road (section A) has officially started.
Queensland and the Federal Government are each providing $395 million to complete the section A upgrade.
Queensland Government MP David Gibson says the project is due to be completed in 2016 and will provide smoother and safer driving conditions.
“As well as duplicating some 13km of highway, the project will also upgrade the existing Cooroy southern interchange and build a new one north of Cooroy,” he says.
“New bridges over Six Mile and Skyring creeks, along with a new overpass connecting Black Mountain Range Road to the existing highway, will also be erected.”
